This is a subversion: coming off as ânormalâ masks wealth this plays off of Sumptuary laws by not having to abide by law that required them to display their status via their clothing. The quality, expense and cut of clothing then takes the place of high clothing. This is similar to Athleisure. The 1% cosplaying as being normal - they are like us but better.
