This replaced the War Measures Act - Canada to be harmonized with the Charter of Rights and Freedoms: Defines emergency situations (as a response to the overextension of the governmentâs involvement in October Crisis): natural catastrophes: disease in humans, animals, or plants, accidents or pollution. The limitations of government are: all measures are subject to approval by Parliament; and must take rights into consideration (compensation must be offered to anyone injured or damaged due to the act).
